I'm in the middle of my first sewing project! While I've never done more than sewing up holes in various clothing items, I decided to try something new. I picked up some pretty fabric at Hancock Fabrics along with a bit of fun trim and will be magically turning it in to (drum roll, please) a table cloth!
Ok, I know it's not as exciting as say a dress, but baby steps, people! Plus, it's completely appropriate as I have a dinner party planned for Saturday night and need something to hide the fact that my 6-person table is actually two 4-person tables pushed together.
Since I didn't want to hand sew this little diddy and I didn't want to buy an expensive, albeit ideal, full-size sewing machine I grabbed this Singer Handy Stitch at Target for $14.99. While it's not the best for big projects (or even medium ones) it's perfect for the beginner sewer, aka ME!
(Next stop, CURTAINS!)
